All those reckless enough to cross paths with the Others are dragged into the Axes. Once the gates have closed, it is best to hope they are never seen again. Willingly or by force, they become part of the invaders' ranks, joining their largest and most visible force: the Parasites. Their physiology mirrors that of a human under extreme stress—rapid heartbeat, heightened adrenaline, constant agitation. Their anatomy, however, has been horrifically altered: severed or twisted limbs, distorted proportions, grotesque deformities, and obvious mutilations. Deprived of the clarity required for speech, they communicate only through screams, yelps, and guttural growls.
