Earth has been swallowed by the Artifact, an impossible object that emerged from the depths of space and time. The God-Object now shapes a new horizon of metal, driving its Axes—gigantic columns—deep into the bowels of the Earth. Condemned to submission, Humanity has withdrawn into the Blocks, autonomous city-states governed by the powerful Administration. In its shadow, many seek to assert their influence in pursuit of their beliefs and/or ambitions for power. Recently arrived in the strategically important Block of Olomòc, you are one of them, determined to carve out your place in this new world order. Form your cabal. Recruit the finest operatives the Block has to offer. Equip them. Then entrust them with missions that will further your schemes. The task, however, will not be easy. Other cabals, driven by ambitions every bit as deeply rooted as your own, will stand in your way. And above all, the Block itself, its environment, its secret police, the Administration, and the Artifact itself will make even the slightest of your transgressions a complex and dangerous undertaking.
